Our site in Perry, Ohio is part of the Integrated Manufacturing Services (IMS) business. We specialise in low volume, high mix electronics manufacturing for the aerospace, defense, industrial, and medical industries. With locations in North America, Europe and Asia, we provide highly engineered electronics and electromechanical assemblies for world-leading manufacturing companies. We provide customers with tailored business solutions, global sourcing and logistics.

Role Overview/Responsibilities

Summary:  Director of Strategic Sourcing must have the knowledge and ability to effectively manage all aspects of sourcing function. Effective communication with all team members acting in a purchasing and sourcing capacity is a must.  The key elements will primarily consist of price, delivery, schedule flexibility, quality and all related accounts payable issues.  Director of Strategic Sourcing is expected to develop sourcing strategies that fit business unit requirements. Director of Strategic Sourcing is required to actively support TT corporate procurement initiatives.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.


  • Review and update sourcing practices in accordance with new or changing environmental policies, standards and regulations.
  • Supervise strategic sourcing team members using the principles set forth by the TT Way of Management.
  • Monitor department goals and objectives as well as team members.
  • Meet with suppliers to discuss to discuss performance metrics, provide performance feedback and discuss other issues or upcoming programs.
  • Develop long term sourcing strategies that fit business unit requirements.
  • Actively participate and lead TT corporate initiatives.
  • Drive continuous improvement within the sourcing organization.
  • Lead sourcing team in their effort to reduce the total cost of ownership of purchase parts.
  • Establish strategic partnership with key supplier base.
  • Oversee and support the competitive and timely material cost quotations to support the business activity.
  • Oversee and support supplier related Quality maintenance including buyer support of part issues, selection, audit, and ratings of suppliers.
  • Maintain and update quality and operating procedures related to purchasing and supplier maintenance and control.
  • Support TT group and divisional initiatives.
  • Oversee and support the U.S. purchasing activity for Suzhou.

I.                   Education/Experience/Credentials:  Bachelors Degree in Business Administration with a specialization in Procurement or Operational Management preferred.  At least 7 years of purchasing experience, the last four in electronic assembly procurement, electronic distribution, or sales.  Minimum of 3 years in Purchasing or Material management experience.  Past TT management experience with demonstrated job specific knowledge as well as proven managerial and organizational skills.

II.                Language Ability:  Excellent communication both written and verbal.  Ability to read and analyze periodicals, business reports, correspondence and procedure manuals.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers, Team Members and the general public.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions.  The Individual must possess strong skills in grammar and proofreading.

III.             Math Ability:  Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages.

IV.             Reasoning Ability:  Ability to collect data, solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.  Ability to maintain a professional and positive image in any situation using good judgment. 

V.                Computer Skills:  Ability to use office software, including Word processing, Spreadsheets, Databases, Slide Presentations, Internet browsers, E-mail, and business systems software.  Ability to create and manipulate complex, multiple spreadsheets.
