Roxspur Measurement & Control Ltd (RM&C), based in Sheffield, became part of TT Electronics in July 2014. Our products include sensors, thermocouples, thermometers, transducers, transmitters, flowmeters and controllers. Our modern cell based manufacturing facilities are fully flexible for small and large batch runs, enabling us to provide short lead times even for customized products  The in-house manufacturing and testing is backed up by our own UKAS accredited laboratory for pressure, temperature, flow and electrical parameters. A team of field-based engineers also provide a full calibration, maintenance and repair service throughout Europe.

Role Overview/Responsibilities

From sustained growth, a vacancy for a Service Calibration Engineer is on offer. 

Predominately covering the UK this role is to provide a safe, proactive, flexible and comprehensive calibration and engineering service supporting our clients in maintaining instrumentation equipment and systems across temperature, electrical and pressure. 

Applicants must have experience in electrical, pressure, temperature calibration and uniformity surveys. The applicant must have previous experience or as a minimum demonstrate a understanding of AMS 2750E and UKAS BS/EN/ISO 17025 procedures. Industrial experience in the Metal Processing, Aerospace or similar industries is desirable with a sound knowledge of instruments in particular Eurotherm products. 

The ideal applicant must be reliable, customer focused, have a methodical approach with competent self-management skills and be able to ‘think on their feet’. Ideally the applicant will be qualified to OHC/HNC in a electrical/instrumentation/system/ control discipline with good IT skills. 

The successful Service Calibration Engineer day to day duties will include (but not limited to):

  • Install, configure, commission, calibrate and repair onsite instrumentation.
  • Calibration, verification and troubleshooting of recorders and instruments which monitor level, flow, pressure, temperature to UKAS and AMS 2750E standards.
  • Liaise with the internal office and with other staff.
  • Liaise with customers prior to executing the job to ensure full understanding of the nature of the job when required.
  • Liaise with customers to advise estimated time of arrival and of any delays which may be anticipated
  • Adhere to site safety rules, permit to work systems and carry out risk assessments and method statement.
  • Comply with industry codes of practice and company Quality Management System.
  • Ensure all forms and certificates are accurate and produced on time.
  • A requirement of overnight stays within the UK/Europe - dependant on job location, duration and engineer to site travel time.
  • To work overtime when required.

To be suitable for this role you must have the following experience / characteristics:

  • Be willing to travel and spend nights away from home.
  • Ideally qualified to ONC/HNC level preferably in electrical/instrumentation/system/control discipline or served a relevant apprenticeship.
  • Knowledge of UKAS BS/EN/ISO 17025 and AMS 2750E.
  • Problem solving and diagnostic skills.
  • Calibration of temperature/pressure instrumentation including Temperature Uniformity Surveys.
  • Highly self-motivated and have the ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team.
  • A flexible approach to working activities.
  • Excellent Communication skills, both verbally and written.
  • The ability to develop good working relationships with customers.
  • Good organisational skills, excellent punctuality and timekeeping.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • The ideal applicant will have:
  • HNC in a relevant Instrumentation / Electronic engineering discipline.
  • Previously worked in a field service / on-site role.
  • A home location within 30 minutes of the A34/M4 corridor (Oxford, Newbury)
