Role Overview and Responsibilities

The Development Engineer will prepare prototypes of new products and will be responsible for preparing test plans, executing various electrical and environmental tests, and create reports for these tests.  He/she will also develop manufacturing processes to meet specific customer requirements.  He/she will draw upon their technical knowledge and their experience to provide creative, optimized solutions to design and process problems.

 

 

Essential Functions:

 

  1. Prepares samples and prototypes including appropriate testing.
  2. Interpret engineering specifications, sketches and drawings necessary to build prototypes or demonstrate ideas to customers.
  3. Review and analyze customer specifications, standards, guidelines and data using statistical techniques when appropriate. 
  4. Prepares test procedures, test reports, and manufacturing process instructions. 
  5. Collect data for the creation of cost estimates for new products and processes.

 

 

Additional Responsibilities

 

  1. Assists in technical drafting and design. 
  2. Track and expedite prototypes through the manufacturing process. 
  3. Works within a team environment to plan and execute new products and/or processes.
  4. Performs other Engineering duties as assigned.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

 

  1. Able to mentally visualize and comprehend the technical aspects of resistor manufacturing, understand the interrelationships and tradeoffs of factors affecting a given design, and be attentive to detail. 
  2. Capable of efficiently integrating existing methods with new innovations to economically solve problems in a timely manner. 
  3. Able to communicate effectively orally, electronically and in writing.
  4. Possesses working knowledge of Word, and Excel. 
  5. Has initiative, able to work effectively with minimum direction, and has the ability to work effectively within a engineering team.

 

Qualifications, Skills and Attributes

Education and Experience

 

  1. BS, Engineering
  2. Prefer 2 to 5 years thick and thin film circuit manufacturing experience in computer-related, telecom or automotive electronics and working knowledge of the materials, equipment and processes used.
  3. Experience in Development engineering and electronic component sales/marketing a plus.
