  • Company Overview

Come and work with us the “TT Way” which means we do the right thing, bring out the best in each other, achieve more together, champion expertise and get the job done…well! With approximately 4100 colleagues we operate from 21 locations around the world. Building the expertise of our people is critical to the future success of our organisation.

TT Electronics is a global provider of engineered electronics. We collaborate with customers in the transportation, industrial, medical, and aerospace and defence markets, providing them with engineering expertise and support through a global network of specialists and world class facilities. As a responsible employer we encourage all our people to “give something back” by supporting the local communities in which we operate.

This role is based at Aero Stanrew, our Barnstaple location; part of the Power Electronics division where we employ approximately 250 employees and specialise in the manufacture of wound components, printed-circuit board assemblies, cabinet wiring and electronic test equipment for the civil aircraft, space, and defence industries.

As well as adopting a great working atmosphere, we are pleased to offer a comprehensive range of employee benefits including: an active Social Club, Birthday brunch in the month of your birthday, contributory pension scheme, free on-site parking, discounted Gym membership, cycle to work scheme, company share-save scheme (eligible after a qualifying period), shorter working hours on Fridays and complimentary fruit and hot drinks for all of our employees to name but a few.

    Role Overview and Responsibilities

We are looking for a versatile engineer to design inductors, transformers, occasionally electromagnets, particularly optimised for efficiency with regard to skin and proximity effects. We envisage the right person will use Finite Element Analysis to model and predict performance, particularly in geometries using a large air-gap. Power levels generally a few watts but occasionally a few kilowatts needs to be tackled; frequency ranges from DC to 1MHz.

The ideal person will also develop a sound knowledge of circuit design, especially in both precision analogue and power supply, as we are being approached more and more for a design of a complete system.

We have a small but effective team of mechanical designers and project managers and you would be working with them.

    Qualifications, Skills and Attributes

We are looking for a person who can develop their skills to liaise with our customer, to assess and discuss a project from its inception and be technical lead through to production and commissioning. Some travelling will be necessary (and the occasional trip abroad) but the vast majority of time will be spent at our North Devon base.

We do not expect to find somebody with the experience necessary, but a realistic and positive approach is vital. We are looking for a sound logical approach, which we can develop through in-house mentoring.
