This role is based at our Barnstaple location, part of the Power Electronics division, where we employ approximately 250 employees and specialise in the manufacture of wound components, printed-circuit board assemblies, cabinet wiring and electronic test equipment for the civil aircraft, space, and defence industries.

Role Overview and Responsibilities

The role will lead the business unit finance team and be an integral business partner.  Further, providing insightful analysis to support business decisions to deliver the requisite cash and profit while ensuring continued bottom line focus.

Areas of focus will include;

  • Establish and maintain a strong controls environment
  • Produce monthly forecast
  • Generate consolidated business unit monthly reporting pack and present to divisional management
  • Lead preparation of the annual budget and Strategic Growth plan
  • Produce year end statutory accounts
  • Provide critical review of all forecast, budget and strategic plans ensuring deliverables
  • Support effective implementation of committed and communicated forecast, budget and strategic plans
  • Financial control and analysis of transformation projects
  • Improve and enhance the reporting system (EPICOR)
  • Ensure statutory and group, reporting and compliance
  • Support in identifying profit enhancement opportunities
  • Contribute on a broad range of commercial and strategic issues
  • Understand key contracts and their KPIs providing analysis and explanations for any variances and unforeseen trading patterns
  • Support Operations & Procurement in control and analysis of stock & work in progress with the intention of increasing stock turns without compromising customer service
  • Develop and manage a set of financial controls to provide visibility of current performance and in collaboration with the operations team manage the key actions to deliver forecast results

Qualifications, Skills and Attributes

The successful candidate will be preferably degree qualified with professional accountancy status (ACCA / CIMA / ACA) and ideally possess manufacturing experience. You will have strong leadership, analytical, influencing and decision making skills demonstrating resilience and credibility.  Strong commercial awareness with excellent communication and interpersonal skills will support your success.
