Role Overview and Responsibilities

We’re currently recruiting for a Purchasing Manager within Power and Hybrid based in Lutterworth where we manufacture high-reliability semiconductor devices for customers in the aerospace, space and defence markets.


In this role you will be responsible for raw material and sub contract cost reduction, supplier selection and the forecasting of pricing trends to support business decisions.


Further key responsibilities will include;


      • Leading the buying team through developing and implementing robust procurement strategies to support the business goals
      • Ensure adequate monitors are in place along the supply chain to identify risks and opportunities both in a timely manner and to drive actions with appropriate intervention
      • Own and drive initiatives to improve quality, delivery and cost performance
      • Partner with Engineering to ensure support to new product introduction (NPI)
      • Implement systems and KPI’s to measure, control and improve company purchasing spends against clearly defined targets
      • Benchmark current supply base to continually test cost/quality competitiveness

      • Implement systems that will effectively monitor and manage correct inventory levels in the business
      • Support and comply with inventory policies ensuring correct safety stocks and reduction in lead times
      • Develop commodity business activity plans in line with agreed targets on cost reduction, quality and delivery
      • Manage the rationalisation of supplier base and introduce supplier development programmes for key supplier
      • Bring out the best in your team with effective management and development

Qualifications, Skills and Attributes

To be successful you will have excellent people management and leadership skills coupled with the ability to think strategically with an innovative approach to problem solving. Negotiation will be your expertise with a demonstrable track record of cost reduction through use of appropriate strategic purchasing tools. Resilience, influence, willingness and ability to make sound decisions are vital traits to getting the job done well.


Previous experience of MRP systems is essential; in particular a working knowledge of SAP would be advantageous. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft office applications, particularly excel is also essential. The successful candidate will be CIPS qualified.
