Role Overview and Responsibilities

We’re currently recruiting for a Buyer within our Purchasing Team based in Lutterworth where we manufacture high-reliability semiconductor devices for customers in the aerospace, space and defence markets.

 

In this role you will be responsible for the management and development of a portfolio of suppliers from whom Lutterworth Power & Hybrid buys goods and services that are critical to our operations.

 

Further key responsibilities will include;

 

    • Regular review of Purchasing MRP exceptions and placing orders with approved distributors, manufacturers and sub-contractors as appropriate
    • Purchasing for best price commensurate with quality, availability and specification
    • Control inventory; minimising the stock holding whilst optimising the cost of purchase, balancing safety stocks and lead time reduction
    • Obtaining quotes and progressing orders for production products and consumables
    • Administering the vendor rating system; advising on supplier approval, un-approval and recommending new suppliers
    • Assisting in the development and implementation of robust procurement strategies
    • Own and drive initiatives to improve cost, quality and delivery performance
    • Provide timely and accurate management information Partner with Engineering to ensure commercial support to new product introduction (NPI)
    • Control and improve company purchasing spends against clearly defined targets
    • Benchmark current supply base to continually improve cost/quality competitiveness

Qualifications, Skills and Attributes

To be successful you will have a methodical approach to work with an eye for detail. You will be tenacious with an ability to build strong relationships at all levels to get the job done well.

 

You will have previous experience working with MRP systems in a similar role. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft office applications, particularly excel is essential for this role. A CIPS Qualification is desirable.
