    Roxspur Measurement & Control Ltd (RM&C), based in Sheffield, became part of TT Electronics in July 2014. Our products include sensors, thermocouples, thermometers, transducers, transmitters, flowmeters and controllers. Our modern cell based manufacturing facilities are fully flexible for small and large batch runs, enabling us to provide short lead times even for customized products The in-house manufacturing and testing is backed up by our own UKAS accredited laboratory for pressure, temperature, flow and electrical parameters. A team of field-based engineers also provide a full calibration, maintenance and repair service throughout Europe.

    Role Overview and Responsibilities

    We are currently looking to recruit a Machinist Apprentice to produce components, tooling, batch parts and one offs on manual machines to a high standard. Extensive training will be provided throughout the apprenticeship for you to become a proficient engineer.


    Future responsibilities would include: 

    • Organise work flow on machine;
    • Checking bill of materials to determine material/stock issued parts are available, check tooling is available;
    • Set up Manual miller/lathe (jigs and fixtures);
    • Check components and ensure that tolerances on drawing are met;
    • Maintain safe operations by adhering to safety procedures;
    • Maintain equipment by using TPM procedures;
    • Actively participate in 5S programmes.

    Qualifications, Skills and Attributes

    The successful candidate will have:

    • Achieved a minimum of 5 GCSE grades A*- C including Mathematics, English and Science;

    • Enthusiasm for this type of role, excellent time-keeping and reliability.
    • Ability to work to a high standard of detail
    • Good organisational/housekeeping skills
    • Any prior understanding of electronics / engineering would be beneficial in this role, but isnot essential.

     Working Hours, Compensation and Benefits

    • 39 hours a week (7.30-16.30 Mon-Thu; 7:30-12.30 Fridays)
    • Salary: £173.07 per week, resulting in £9000 per annum
    • 25 Annual Holidays in addition to 8 statutory holidays. Holidays can be taken per hour
