    This role is based at Aero Stanrew, our Barnstaple location; part of the Power Electronics division where we employ approximately 250 employees and specialise in the manufacture of wound components, printed-circuit board assemblies, cabinet wiring and electronic test equipment for the civil aircraft, space, and defence industries.

    Role Overview and Responsibilities

    We are recruiting for an Operations Planner to join our busy team. Reporting to the Master Schedular, you will be the owner of the local supply plan for the value stream area, effectively optomising capacity and inventory while meeting demands of our customers. In addition, the successful candidate will:

    • Be responsible for the on time release of Jobs into the defined Production Cell or Value Stream
    • Be responsible for the timeliness and progression of the Jobs within the Production Cell / Value Stream
    • Support the Value Stream lead in maintaining OTD delivery through the OTD completion of Jobs
    • Assist in the expediting priorities of the Material Supply Team


    Key Responsibilities

    • Develop local production plan along with Scheduling and Purchasing
    • Maintaining and assisting in the running of the Master Production Schedule by adhering to Job Start dates and Job Completion date, therefor maintaining Customer OTD
    • Reviewing and setting the internal parameters behind the master production schedule to control and pace both internal production and the external supply chain. Providing these improvement feedback and analyses to the Master Scheduler for integration into the SIOP process.
    • Ensure that the planning of BOM & routing structure is complete on time to business need
    • Assisting in the defining and implementing balanced production plans and leveled schedules.
    • Help maintain established planning time horizons and provide achievable commitments on orders inside planning time fences.
    • Conduct available to promise analysis and establish scheduled ship dates on all customer orders within the assigned Production Cell or Value Stream.
    • Assist with recovery plans and the coordination of new product introductions when necessary.
    • Review the relevant customer commitments and performance metrics
    • Maintaining and day to day running of the master production schedule and by Job release and planning parameter setup
    • Capacity Planning, identification of planned shutdowns and allocation of down-time for maintenance (Production Cell / Value Stream capacity) for both current orderbook (looking forward 12 months in detail) and forecast Demand
    • Input into Supply Plan for SIOP process.
    • Demand plan: Work with the Master Scheduler to understand the requested scheduled hours for the Production Cell / Value Stream
    • Supply Plan: Liaise with Master Scheduler to ensure supply plan is achievable or has a robust action plan to make it achievable, assist in with scenario analysis integrated into the planning cycle.
    • Conduct rigorous analysis of end-to-end current job performance and capacity or delivery gaps for resolution during the SIOP meetings

    Desireable Skills and Experience

    • Some experience working as a planner, scheduler, production control, or buyer within a technology company (ideally mechanical/aerospace)
    • Prior planning experience in a matrix organisation
    • APICS certification
    • Bachelor degree in Business, Operations, Supply Chain or related field
    • Project management experience
    • Understand standard enterprise resource planning (ERP) and material requirements planning (MRP)
    • Able to work to time sensitive constraints
    • Have knowledge of manufacturing planning, master production scheduling, product definition, inventory control, capacity requirements planning shop floor control, warehousing, transportation, and purchasing business functions.
