    Role Overview and Responsibilities

    ** THIS POSITION REQUIRES US CITIZENSHIP OR GREEN CARD HOLDER**

     

    Directs employees performing routine, assembly or processing operations to ensure conformance to schedules, quality and quantity requirements. Reports directly to Production Manager.

     

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    • Responsible for discipline, training and performance evaluations of individual operators to maintain a high level of quality production. 
    • Approves applicants for hire and recommends separation of employees felt unsuitable for continued employment within department. 
    • Plans and schedule work to facilitate work operations and to ensure production of orders in sequence assigned by production scheduling the department. Expedites orders and materials as needed to meet production schedules. 
    • Ensures all equipment within department or area is in satisfactory condition in regard to production safety. 
    • Investigates claims of on the job injuries and make recommendations for the prevention of reoccurrences. 
    • Ensures that employees comply with the labor agreement. 
    • Reviews labor reporting for accuracy and enter corrections into the system. 
    • Interfaces with support staff to ensure compliance with quality assurance requirements, human resources’ policies, safety related procedures, labor reporting, purchasing, etc. 
    • Responsible for the safety and welfare of employees on appropriate shift. Must walk the building, checking to ensure doors are locked and only authorized personnel are in the facility. 
    • Initiates cross training and initial training programs that encompass all aspects of the manufacturing processes where appropriate. 
    • Communicates with other supervisors on other shifts as to the status and progress of the work flow regarding his/her particular shift. 
    • Any other generally related duties that may be assigned.

    Qualifications, Skills and Attributes

    • High school diploma plus minimum three years experience in manufacturing environment or one year as a supervisor.
    • Able to work around various chemicals including acetone, hydrofluoric acid, hydrogen peroxide, nitric acid and sulftiric acid. 
    • Able to work in a controlled environment (set temperature and humidity) wearing appropriate clean room garments. 
    • Excellent communication skills - both oral and written.
    • Good interpersonal skills.
    • Computer skills highly desirable.
    • Ability to work whatever hours are necessary to ensure maximum output of department, including Saturdays and Sundays if necessary.
