    Role Overview and Responsibilities

    Introduction

     

    To ensure that the Company operates within the legislative framework for all relevant aspects of health, safety and environmental legislation.

    Fosters a proactive HSE culture across the site, raising HSE awareness and working towards zero harm

    Internal:  Site wide contact at all levels

    External: TT electronics H.O, Insurance Surveyors, Specialist Test Engineers, Emergency Services, Local Authority, Suppliers and 3rd Party Subcontractors

     

    Key Responsibilities

     

    Health & Safety Responsibilities

     

    • To provide information, advice and guidance to site personnel regarding Company Rules and Health and Safety Legislation.
    • To manage the emergency evacuation procedure.
    • To organise safety training courses.
    • To ensure that the company Risk Assessment schedule is met by undertaking auditing, and providing support, guidance and advice.
    • To ensure that the company procedure for conducting and updating SDS records is met by undertaking auditing, and providing support, guidance and advice where required..
    • To complete safety inspections on a regular basis and to design and manage an in house safety auditing system for inter departmental safety audits.
    • To manage accident investigations on site including offering assistance and support to Team Leaders, Supervisors and Managers.
    • To organise and chair safety meetings on a regular basis across site ensuring the involvement of both Management and Shop floor personnel as appropriate.
    • To identify requirements for occupational health testing and pass information to HR.
    • To ensure the delivery & achievement of agreed HSE Improvement targets and objectives.
    • To co-ordinate activities to fully integrate key safety and environmental elements into our day to day operational activities.
    • Maintain HSE Schedules and compliance calendars, ensure activities occur to maintain compliance.
    • Lead the implementation of proactive initiatives (such as Behavioural Safety, HSE Roadmaps).

    Environmental Responsibilities

     

    • Oversee the Company Environmental Policy and ensure this complies with various recycling criteria, waste controls and energy saving initiatives on site
    • Oversee process specific environmental rules and guidelines in order to protect both the local and national environment.
    • To manage and update the company’s Environmental Manual and Procedures.
    • To coordinate the implementation of continuous improvements to the Environmental Management System to ensure that best practice is maintained.
    • To be an active member of the site environmental steering group.
    • To audit the environmental management system across site and set schedule and to be available to support internal and external environmental audits as required.
    • General
    • Work in collaboration with other TT sites and Corporate HSE regards HSE best practice
    • Proactively work with the Regional HSE Council (will require occasional travel)
    • Identify and provide HSE training needs, in person and or via external agents
    • Work effectively across the site with all levels of the organisation regards HSE, improving awareness and engagement and promoting a Just Culture

    Qualifications, Skills and Attributes

    Core Requirements

     

    • Must be Nebosh qualified or equivalent (ideally Diploma). 
    • Must be PC literate (Excel and Word).
    • Must be able to demonstrate good leadership and communication skills at all levels within an organisation. 
    • Must have an in-depth knowledge of safety and environmental legal requirements, root cause analysis, knowledge and experience of OHSAS 18001/ISO 14001:2015 requirements and implementation.
    • Minimum of 3 to 5 years relevant experience operating within a Health, Safety and Environment Management role.
