    Role Overview and Responsibilities

    Undertake a structured training program of academic study and industry training in order to develop and gain the skills and knowledge required to help maintain the site facilities to support the needs of a world class manufacturing facility.  Scope includes manufacturing tools and equipment, building / facilities maintenance.

     

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Observing, learning and understanding a wide range of engineering skills and processes whilst under the guidance of skilled technical staff.
    • Demonstrate these skills and processes as the training period progresses by working independently or as part of a team, to undertake task(s) as instructed and to increase overall contribution to the department.
    • To undertake and successfully complete suitable college course(s) throughout the training period, achieving the academic grades and practical skills in order to entitle yearly progression.
    • Learn how to maintain workshop equipment and keep it in good working order.
    • Maintain a logbook over the duration of the apprenticeship, recording projects that have been undertaken and skills that have been learned.
    • Maintain and ensure good housekeeping of the workplace.
    • Maintain a smart appearance and act in a professional manner at all times whether in the workplace our outside of the workplace.
    • Any other reasonable Technical duties appropriate to grade and role as required.
    • Adhere to all policy and legislative requirements in respect of Health & Safety and Environmental legislation.

    Qualifications, Skills and Attributes

    • GCSEs (Grade A - C) in Maths, Science, English and Design Technology.
    • Electrical/Mechanical Knowledge (Desirable).
    • Practical and technical skills.
    • Ability in Maths, Science and IT.
    • An understanding of engineering drawings and principles.
    • Ability to handle a varied workload.
    • Problem solving skills.
    • Good communication skills.
