    Role Overview and Responsibilities

    To assist the Sales Director and Business Development Manager in evaluating and preparing customer quotations from initial RFQ through to order placement.  To review RFQ’s with a view to preparing the ‘best fit’ solution in terms of functionality and cost.

     

    Key Responsibilities

    • Determine cost estimate targets during the design and development process, recommending cost effective solutions.
    • Gather proposals, specifications and related documents and liaise with stakeholders in order to convert specifications to cost estimates for new and current products.
    • Establish cost estimates of production processes and tooling costs and review alternatives or put forward recommendations for improvements.
    • Generating labour estimates, liaising with production and engineering functions to identify most economic processes.
    • Progressing material costs either directly or via the purchasing function.
    • Collating labour and material costs in providing product cost of sales and setting prices against various margins.
    • Assess cost effectiveness of products and track actual costs relative to budget and report status on a regular basis to ensure costs are in line with forecasts.
    • Monitor and review data and information to detect or assess problems.
    • Investigate and identify cost reduction opportunities through cost analysis.
    • Liaise directly with customers in relation to engineering and commercial topics.
    • Ensure all relevant documentation, systems and records are kept up to date.
    • DFM assessment and reporting.
    • Any other reasonable technical and commercial duties as required.

    Qualifications, Skills and Attributes

    Skills and Experience

    • HNC minimum or HND preferable with experience in electro-mechanical bespoke solutions.
    • Additional electronics experience would also be an advantage.
    • Ideally minimum 5 years’ experience within the HMI (Human Machine Interface) (or similar).
    • Experience in the aviation sector would be a distinct advantage.
