    We are currently recruiting for a Service Delivery Engineer to join our IT team in Barnstaple, to assist the Company in providing reliable IT services by delivering front line technical support to business users and handling the day to day issues that arise on the company’s helpdesk. As the first point of contact for day to day queries, it is essential that the succesful candidate has a good telephone manner, the ability to communicate clearly and effectively and analyse problems and provide solutions in a PC support environment. Succesful candidates will have the ability to troubleshoot issues that may arise and be able to think independently.

     

    Experience:

    Knowledge of PC components, hardware and software, input and output devices, storage and general maintenance. Must also have had exposure to Microsoft Windows operating systems, opening and closing applications, and managing windows and files. Experience of Microsoft application software: word processing, spreadsheet, database, graphics and presentation, and the basics of internet technology and uses.

     

    Key Responsibilities:

    Provide Front Line Support covering desktops, software (i.e. Microsoft products).
    Provide daily housekeeping duties covering meeting rooms, network, infrastructure and backup to escalate to Head of IT where appropriate.
    Advise business users on their use of standard IT applications where appropriate.
    Undertake the day-to-day operation of backup systems including the rotation of backup tapes.
    Undertake ad-hoc administrative tasks including label printing, file server, print servers and terminal server (this could include restarting both label and LaserJet printers).
    Assist in the operation of On-Line Helpdesk, monitoring jobs that come in for yourself, or moving unallocated to the correct location.
    Provide PC hardware maintenance and troubleshooting to business users to ensure the effective and timely resolution to technical problems, keeping business users informed of the status of their request for support.
    Following documented steps for solving various issues located in the company’s IT Manual.
    Take responsibility for meeting individual performance targets as agreed with the Head of IT.
    Ensure health and safety rules and regulations are adhered to at all times and a safe working environment is maintained.
    Carry out your duties in a safe manner and ensure that your actions and/or omissions do not cause hazards that put you or your colleagues at risk of injury.

    Qualifications, Skills and Attributes

    Core Requirements

    Practical qualifications in computer related disciplines, such as NVQ or similar

     

    Desireable Skills and Experience
