    Role Overview and Responsibilities

    Implements the most effective and efficient manufacturing methods in all facilities by coordinating with other departments and production personnel. Plays a key leadership role in all manufacturing cost reduction projects as well as in the transition of in-house manufacturing to outsource suppliers. Serves as a champion to ensure lean manufacturing and 5S principles are followed. Assures work areas and equipment at facilities are set up in a safe and efficient manner. Develops and conducts formal training sessions for employees in assigned areas. Provides primary staff support to the General Manager.

     

    • Adherence to company policies, ISO and any other special job requirements
    • Assists ISO Management Rep and other ISO team members to maintain overall Quality Management System effectiveness. Stays abreast of regulatory changes to ensure company compliance.
    • Identifies and correct production violations of lean manufacturing principles such as batching, excess scrap and unbalanced lines.
    • Develops and conducts employee training in new methods, safety, machine operation and other areas.
    • Evaluates work areas and establishes corrective actions related to safety, cleanliness and organization by applying 5S principles.
    • Ensures compliance with current government regulations, working with General Manager and others as appropriate.
    • Samples building (samples will be built by operators and over seen by DE. Once part is ready for production there will be a hand off to ME to move into production). Reviews set-up process on first production runs identifying potential problems with quality scrap, efficiencies and tooling. Works with Design Engineering to correct issues related to design.
    • Develops and maintains workmanship standards working with Manufacturing and Quality Assurance.
    • Assists in installing and set-up of new equipment. Maintain, repair equipment, tools, manage the calibration program and manage maintenance schedule program.
    • Focuses on manufacturing cost reductions by reducing materials job costs, improved labor efficiencies, manufacturing design and process automation.
    • Plays a key leadership role in the transition of in-house manufacturing to outsource suppliers within a cross functional team.
    • Monitors job performance reports to identify product not meeting expected performance. Evaluates process to identify root cause of variance including time studies, line balancing, tooling, lean manufacturing principals, motion studies, etc.
    • Identifies jobs with high scrap content to determine root cause and corrective action.
    • Provides production performance reporting to production management in order to achieve continuous improvement.
    • Interacts with production employees and supervisors to resolve problems with tooling, process capability, materials and efficiencies.
    • Assists Manufacturing Technicians in complex machine programming.
    • Promotes and assists with change management at all domestic manufacturing facilities.
    • Internal expert for preventive maintenance at facilities under the direction of the General Manager.
    • Performs other miscellaneous duties as assigned.

    Qualifications, Skills and Attributes

    • English Speaking: Speak/Read/Write proficient
    • Good understanding of ISO requirements, basic electronics, quality audits and corrective actionMust have a strong orientation towards documentation
    • Knowledge of magnetic components and their application preferred
    • Ability to work within a fast paced manufacturing environment
    • Knowledge in numerical machines and various testers
    • Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Demand Flow Manufacturing and Statistical
    • Process Control
    • Participates in continuing professional education to remain current
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as technical writing skills
    • Must have mechanical aptitude and be creative
    • Must have the ability to read prints and process related documentation

      • Minimum Bachelor's 4 year degree in Industrial Technology, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Automation Engineering preferred
      • Five years or more industrial engineering, manufacturing engineering, and/or process engineering experience in a related industry including experience in an ISO regulatory environment
      • Desired Certification: Green / Black Belt
      • Interpersonal:  Ability to work independently and on a team
    • Travel: Willingness to travel up to 10% as required (possibly to USA every two years)
