    TT Electronics’ Minneapolis, Minnesota facility, is an industry-leading designer and manufacturer of custom and standard magnetic components and assemblies. The Minneapolis-based site has over 50 years of design experience and specializes in the creation of innovative and sophisticated solutions for solving customer magnetic technology needs. We use cutting-edge materials and state-of-the-art design technology to deliver products across a broad range of industries including renewable energy, medical device, aerospace/aviation/automotive, electronics, food processing, instrumentation, industrial control, telecommunications and HVAC applications.

    Role Overview and Responsibilities

    The Production Manager is a key member of the Magnetics component management operational team responsible for overseeing manufacturing operations in Minneapolis MN.  This role will serve as a general leader for the production department with direct responsibility for department operation, safety, quality, performance, and KPI, including production department management to ensure safe sites that produce quality products on time in a cost-effective manner, minimizing waste and ensuring maximum equipment utilization. The role will develop and implement a manufacturing strategy as part of the overall business plan which will include developing, leading and implementing a process of continuous “Lean” improvement to increase efficiency and reduce cost.  In addition, this role will also oversee the planning, coordination and control of manufacturing processes and manage all process and maintenance engineering activities, outlining overall objectives and initiatives.

     

    Primary Responsibilities

    • Plan, develop, and implement a strategy for manufacturing to meet organizational performance plans within agreed budgets and timescales (covering all relevant areas of operations – e.g. manufacturing, planning/logistics, production engineering).
    • Ensure that manufacturing operations are focused on all aspects of financial and operations excellence, thereby supporting delivery of manufacturing plant objectives.
    • Confront and solve performance/operational issues to improve development efficiency.
    • Lead and develop the Production Engineering and Technical Support teams and oversee project management processes to keep projects on schedule and budget in accordance with delivery timelines.
    • Ensure that goods and services are produced efficiently and that the correct amount is produced at the right cost and level of quality.
    • Develop and ensure a health and safety culture across all sites and assume responsibility for environmental standards.
    • Deliver key financial and performance data to the leadership team to support timely decision making.
    • Develop and implement an effective system to improve resource planning and delivery performance (S&OP), improving forecast accuracy and factory efficiency.
    • Review gross profit performance and play an active role, together with other functional leaders, to develop and implement plans to improve the same.
    • Lead multi-site continuous improvement activities utilizing effective tools with lean and six sigma principles.
    • Work as a partner with Procurement Leadership to develop the purchasing and supply chain functions.
    • Improve quality in conjunction with the Manager of Quality, and deploy consistent quality processes, procedures, and metrics.
    • Work in partnership with the Group Operations Organization in the areas of, lean operating systems and health, safety and environment.
    • Develop the production organization to support delivery of the function objectives and drive high levels of accountability, ensuring strong performance management, skills development, and succession planning.
    • Oversee production operations, including outlining production schedules, ensuring achievement of plan and product quality in a cost-effective manner.
    • Forecast and plan for human and material resources needed.
    • Monitor the production processes and adjust schedules as needed.
    • Structure, manage, and mentor the team to achieve optimal performance, include reviewing worker performance and identifying training needs.
    • Support manufacturing and procurement objectives focused on Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost.

    Qualifications, Skills and Attributes

    EXPERIENCE & SKILLS

    • Minimum of 5 years in manufacturing leadership experience.
    • Proven manufacturing plant production operations experience within a specialty and/or electronics manufacturing organization.
    • Proven experience in advanced manufacturing processes and techniques, including leading operations to continuously improve performance (including Lean), quality, and safety.
    • Strong operational financial knowledge, resource planning, manufacturing planning and workforce planning.
    • Proven experience leading supervisory level employees
    • Successfully lead large change management projects including integration.
    • Experience managing within an operational excellence model with the ability to show improved results.
    • Strong communications and interpersonal skills to effectively motivate and develop the team.
    • Team player who is receptive to ideas, shares information, and keeps key stakeholders informed.
    • Experience leading a complex operations organization.
    • Confident and dynamic communicator.
    • Excellent written and spoken English.
    • High energy, creative and motivated by results and strives to exceed expectations.
    • Demonstrates strong leadership, analytical, influencing and decision-making skills.
    • Willingness to travel, including international travel as expected.
    • Well versed in the utilization of Microsoft Office tools.
    • Experience with leadership of facilities requiring and holding certifications such as: ISO-9001, TS16949, ISO-13485, AS-9100 and/or other relevant certifications.
    • Credible and accountable person with demonstrated ability to lead and manage efficient production on a continuous basis.
    • Proven ability to review and evaluate system processes and methodology and streamline manufacturing procedures to ensure efficient implementation.
    • Experience with ensuring safe, high quality production, forecasting labor requirements, ensuring capacity to meet client needs, and maximizing equipment utilization and up-time rates to ensure cost effective production.
    • Advanced level understanding of Lean Manufacturing processes and Six Sigma.
    • Proactive in approach by staying abreast of, and communicating, new quality initiatives and industry-specific process improvement programs.
    • Previous experience in the utilization of MRP systems such as SAP, Epicor, Oracle….

     

     

    EDUCATION

    • Preferred Bachelor’s level Degree in Engineering, Operations Management, related field or demonstrated level of equitable field experience.
    • Quality and Operational System Certification preferred (i.e.: ASQ, Six Sigma, Lean, etc.).
