Our Barnstaple facility is located in North Devon. Founded in 1948, the site now employs approximately 250 employees and features the Aero Stanrew brand of electromagnetic components, printed-circuit board assemblies, cabinet wiring and electronic test equipment for safety critical applications in aerospace and defence, industrial and transportation industries.

The Manufacturing Engineering Continuous Improvement Lead is focused on equipping Aero Stanrew with the optimal production equipment and processes to achieve target Goals.
To provide technical and project leadership in developing and deploying equipment and process technology for cost reduction and quality improvement.
Initiating and conducting broadly defined technical tasks and programs within our Magnetics, ESD and Electronics Value Streams
Introduces and validates new manufacturing equipment and processes.
Development of the OPEX Manufacturing Technology culture, coaching others in all aspects of 3P (Production Preparation Process) to affect the needed changes to meet business requirements.
To provide technical support/coaching in OPEX related processes to Operations teams to grow the process improvement capabilities of the Business.
Driving change management, effectively communicating throughout the organization and collaborating with the leadership team to achieve target performance. Creation and leadership of the bespoke Manufacturing Engineering plan, to drive significant performance improvement in manufacturing processes.
Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders, competitors and appropriate research institutions to research and recommend best practice methodologies and implementing the standardisation of those practices/processes across the Aero Stanrew business unit.
Work with NPI & Manufacturing teams to identify a project portfolio that will deliver processes and equipment which meet the business needs of safety, quality, delivery and cost.
Carry out technical and cost related feasibilities in support of a business case for technology implementation.
Works to a well-defined project list to ensure commitments are delivered upon, track and communicate progress on specific projects.
Financial Responsibility for Project Budgets
Leads and participates in cross functional team events aimed at identifying improvements using OPEX principles and Lean Manufacturing methods and practices.
Will identify suitable third-party vendors to partner with on a project specific basis.
Will work closely with third party vendors to ensure projects are maintained from a quality, cost and time perspective
Will prepare drawings and specifications to define and communicate project information.
Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks’
Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results; keeping business information confidential; administering the system security; ensuring data accuracy and integrity; maintaining updated professional and technical knowledge; assuring systems compliance with laws, regulations, and corporate standards; ensuring a safe and healthy environment.

Manufacturing Team membership in cross-functional NPI Project Teams supporting scale-up and launch of new products with equipment and process to meet customer needs and expectations of Quality, Delivery and Cost
Develop financial justifications for new capital projects support both NPI and cost reduction efforts.
Supervision Received: Will work closely with operations director to ensure alignment with manufacturing strategy, progress will be reported out during daily stand ups and project ‘5-blockers’ prepared weekly for broader internal and external stakeholder community.

Manufacturing Engineering Manager, MLP’s and all manufacturing engineers across Magnetics and Electronics Value Streams.
A recognised Engineering Degree or equivalent and subsequent experience in the Product & Process Engineering.
Formal training, qualification and Proven experience in Six Sigma techniques.
Minimum two years experience in technical process improvements, experienced in Lean manufacturing methodology in relation to manufacturing equipment and processes combined.
Equipment/Process design & specification experience within regulated such as Aerospace, Medical device or Bio-Pharmaceutical.
Desireable Skills and Experience:
Knowledge of Process validation procedures and techniques, e.g. Process and product FMEA, and process capability studies.
Excellent skills in change management in a technical environment
Able to identify, prioritise, and manage the implementation of initiatives and change strategies
Be a champion, coach and mentor for Manufacturing Engineering Development. Develop others in the company to lead their own improvement processes.
Able to develop Manufacturing Engineers to become subject matter experts in their field.
Can execute improvement events/projects based on target objectives. Use various improvement methods to execute such as Modular Design, lean design, 3P, kaizen events, six sigma, PFMEA, value stream mapping, etc…Gain involvement of Operational & Technical Managers in projects, manage the use of these resources to gain maximum improvements.
Exhibits a high degree of ingenuity, creativity, and resourcefulness. Works under consultative direction toward predetermined long-range goals and objectives.
