In Rogerstone, Newport, South Wales we specialise in low volume, high mix electronics. Our team of 230 employees is part of the Global Manufacturing Solutions division and delivers end to end through life tailored business solutions to world leading manufacturing partners. We require 1 Engineer for permanent nights and 1 Engineer for rotating day shift, both positions attract a shift allowance (22.5% for rotating and 33.33% for nights)
Reporting to the Surface Mount Engineering Manager, responsible to provide Engineering and operations support on the Surface Mount area.
Ensuring the process and staff are trained and are competent on the Surface mount processes.
That the process is maintained and capable to support the production requirements.
Support Lean initiatives, improvement and Engineering activities.
Manage and support the TPM (Total Preventative Maintenance) Program, setting requirements, and training for the surface mount equipment and supporting services, eg Feeders, feeder beds, stencil / screen cleaner.
The Process is ready to support production requirements, with available programs, tooling.
Investigate Quality issues, root cause analysis and corrective actions.
Diagnose and repair all departmental equipment down to PCB level and report findings in a concise and accurate manner. A good understanding of electrical drawings, schematics and engineering drawings is expected, together with the general use of multi-meters, hand power tools and measuring equipment.
Ensure critical spares are monitored and maintained.
Use and apply all SMT machine performance criteria; this could include component attrition, nozzle data, feeder data and vision error information and use this information to drive improvements within the machine performance, eg downtime reports, OEE.
Communicate at all levels within the organisation and attendance of Project, Quality and customer meetings will be expected. Also he or she will take responsibility for direct contact with Machine or Process.
Modify / Edit of the placement, AOI (Automated Optical Inspection), SPI (Solder Paste Inspection), Reflow oven Profiles, programs in conjunction with the Surface Mount Engineers and supporting equipment operation, maintenance, training documentation.
Be an active member of any manufacturing initiatives that are being promoted or employed.
Electro / Mechanical experience, Use of automated processes and controls, Pneumatics, NC (numerical control).
