    Role Overview and Responsibilities

    We require 1 Engineer for permanent nights and 1 Engineer for rotating day shift, both positions attract a shift allowance (22.5% for rotating and 33.33% for nights)

     

    Introduction

    Reporting to the Surface Mount Engineering Manager, responsible to provide Engineering and operations support on the Surface Mount area.

    Ensuring the process and staff are trained and are competent on the Surface mount processes.

    That the process is maintained and capable to support the production requirements.

    Support Lean initiatives, improvement and Engineering activities.

     

    • Manage and support the TPM (Total Preventative Maintenance) Program, setting requirements, and training for the surface mount equipment and supporting services, eg Feeders, feeder beds, stencil / screen cleaner.

      The Process is ready to support production requirements, with available programs, tooling.

      Investigate Quality issues, root cause analysis and corrective actions.

      Diagnose and repair all departmental equipment down to PCB level and report findings in a concise and accurate manner. A good understanding of electrical drawings, schematics and engineering drawings is expected, together with the general use of multi-meters, hand power tools and measuring equipment.

      Ensure critical spares are monitored and maintained.

      Use and apply all SMT machine performance criteria; this could include component attrition, nozzle data, feeder data and vision error information and use this information to drive improvements within the machine performance, eg downtime reports, OEE.

      Communicate at all levels within the organisation and attendance of Project, Quality and customer meetings will be expected. Also he or she will take responsibility for direct contact with Machine or Process.

      Modify / Edit of the placement, AOI (Automated Optical Inspection), SPI (Solder Paste Inspection), Reflow oven Profiles, programs in conjunction with the Surface Mount Engineers and supporting equipment operation, maintenance, training documentation.

      Be an active member of any manufacturing initiatives that are being promoted or employed.

    Qualifications, Skills and Attributes

    Competency

    Electro / Mechanical experience, Use of automated processes and controls, Pneumatics, NC (numerical control).

     

    Position, Qualifications, Education, Skills and Experience

    • Preferred Minimum of five years’ experience in Electronics Surface Mount assembly and the associated processes, programming, maintenance, set up. Automated processes, Numerical Control, High speed automation, programming skills, line change over management. Robotics, multi axis equipment.
    • Or
    • English speaking and good comprehension of written English
    • Good mechanical dexterity and the ability to understand equipment technical drawings
    • Knowledge of industry standards IPC e.g.600, 610. (Training will be given when required)
    • Work requires professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to motivate teams.

    Desirable

    • General Manufacturing experience
    • Experience of working in high paced / dynamic environment.
