    Our Barnstaple facility is located in North Devon. Founded in 1948, the site now employs approximately 250 employees and features the Aero Stanrew brand of electromagnetic components, printed-circuit board assemblies, cabinet wiring and electronic test equipment for safety critical applications in aerospace and defence, industrial and transportation industries.

    Role Overview and Responsibilities

    Introduction:

    We’re currently recruiting for a Trainee Estimator within Power Electronics business unit based in Barnstaple where we manufacture high-reliability Electro-Mechanical and Magnetic devices for customers in the aerospace, space and defence markets.

     

    In this role you will be working as a Trainee Estimating/Enquiries Assistant working in a supporting role alongside our Commercial Team. This will include using our MRP system, going out to suppliers for pricing and co-ordinating with the Production Engineers validating manufacturing requirements.

     

    Key Responsibilities:

    Booking in Customer Enquiries
    Ability to read engineering drawings to identify piece parts, notes and processes
    Attaching various documents to the MRP system
    Sending Requests for Quotes to suppliers, including the attachment of relevant drawings
    Updating Excel worksheets, paying close attention to hidden costs
    Identifying deviations from the customer request to the engineering drawings
    Sending and compiling quotes to the customer
    Creating records for parts with the MRP system
    Contacting and discussing issues with both customers, suppliers both external and internal 
    Take in-coming calls for the business therefore a professional telephone manner is essential
    Using Microsoft Outlook and Excel to report and communicate to customers and suppliers

    Desireable Skills and Experience:

    A good working knowledge of MS Office applications, particularly Excel and previous experience in a production / engineering role is highly desired for this role.
