TT Electronics’ Bedlington facility north of Newcastle upon Tyne is the home of two TT Electronics divisions; Sensors & Specialist Components and Power Electronics. Sensors & Specialist Components are leaders in high reliability, high performance and engineered electronic components. Power Electronics provide custom power solutions for safety-critical applications in harsh environments. The team in Bedlington specialises in microcircuit production for the aerospace and defence industries.

Role Overview and Responsibilities

Introduction

Due to growth within our Sensors and Specialist Components business we have a vacancy for an Electronics Test Engineer. The ideal candidate will have industrial experience in an electronics manufacturing environment. In this role you will be responsible for providing day to day production support, implementing process improvements and participate with new equipment and product introductions.

 

 

Key Responsibilities

Reporting directly to the Lead Test Engineer, key duties and responsibilities will include: -

  • Support production with the running of automated test equipment.
  • Setup and maintain electrical measurement systems.
  • Evaluate and interpret customer test specifications.
  • Design and construct test hardware.
  • Modify/generate test code to control instrumentation and perform automated testing.
  • Develop an understanding of the production test machinery and become the in-house expert on its function and use.
  • Research, design, and develop equipment/processes to optimize productivity and workflow.
  • Update/produce technical documentation such as circuit diagrams, test procedures and operating instructions.
  • Identify and procure new test equipment where required.
  • Provide training and support to production operators.

Qualifications, Skills and Attributes

Core Requirements

  • Minimum HNC in Electronic Engineering or equivalent.
  • Relevant experience in an electronics manufacturing environment.
  • Good fault diagnosis skills.
  • Experience using test instrumentation such as Oscilloscopes, Signal Generators and Digital Multimeters.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a small team, but able to tackle solo projects when needed.

 

Desireable Skills and Experience

  • A keen interest in software programming such as: Labview, CVI, Python, VB.
  • Knowledge of remote Instrumentation control.
  • Wafer probing experience.
  • Practical electronics skills.
