Role Overview and Responsibilities

Summary:  The Test Engineering Technician requires a strong technical background coupled with good communication skills and an understanding of the electronic manufacturing process.  The job requirements focus on test system debug, mechanical and electrical fixture builds, fixture maintenance, and test procedure development for In-Circuit Test, Functional Test, and Cable Assembly Test.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Include but are not limited to the following:

 

  • Support the Test Engineering Manager and Test Engineers with their activities.
  • Developing, assembling, and debugging functional test fixtures.
  • Developing, assembling, and debugging cable harness test solutions.
  • Help develop electrical schematics and mechanical drawing using AutoCAD, Visio, etc…
  • Support In-Circuit Test fixture evaluation and fixture maintenance.
  • Develop and register test procedures into Sharepoint Test Procedure database.
  • Interpret customer schematics and test procedures to deploy a production-ready test solution at TTE.
  • Perform test on Prototype and New Product Introduction products ahead of release to production.
  • Work directly with customer engineers to evaluate failure modes or test fixture issues.
  • Research and debug quality issues as they relate to test processes to establish root cause failure mode.
  • Implement Kaizen Card ideas as they relate to the test process.
  • Use equipment such as hand tools, milling machine, bandsaw, jigsaw, drill motor, 3D printer, etc… to fabricate test fixtures.
  • Use test equipment such as digital multimeter, AC or DC power supplies, oscilloscope, frequency counters, signal generators, etc… to debug and document test processes.

Test Engineering Technician

 

 

  1. Education/Experience/Credentials: Associate of Applied Science in Electronics or other Engineering discipline or three years of experience in related functions described under Essential Duties and Responsibilities. 

  2. Language Ability: Excellent communication both written and verbal.  Ability to read and analyze periodicals, business reports, correspondence and procedure manuals.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers, Team Members and the general public.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions.  The Individual must possess strong skills in grammar and proofreading.

 

  • Math Ability: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as averages, standard deviation, proportions, percentages.  Understand Boolean Logic, binary, hexadecimal and octal numbering systems as well as utilize general algebraic and geometric tools.

 

  1. Reasoning Ability: Ability to collect data, solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.  Ability to maintain a professional and positive image in any situation using good judgment. 

 

  1. Computer Skills: Ability to use office software, including Word processing, Spreadsheets, Databases, Slide Presentations, Internet browsers, E-mail, and business systems software.
