Role Overview and Responsibilities

This is a remote opportunity open to candidates nationwide.

 

Introduction

Reporting directly to the SVP North America and to the Group CFO, the VP of Finance for the North America division will act as a business partner for the regional management team, providing key decision support. Contributes on a broad range of commercial and strategic issues, particularly as the business continues its growth and enters new markets in both developed and developing territories. Accountable for good controls and sound financial management.

 

Responsibilities

  • The VP Finance responsibilities encompass the financial management and control, budgeting, forecasting, corporate development and commercial support
  • Partners with the SVP North America on key decisions, influencing decisions to ensure optimal outcomes
    • Collaborates to align financial strategies with operational goals
    • Interprets financial metrics and trends to help inform business decisions
    • Assesses financial performance against targets and provides insights on variances
    • Identifying financial risks and suggesting ways to mitigate them
  • With a strong foundation in Accounting, ensures the accounting and balance sheets are correct and firmly aligned
  • Manages, through matrix management, 7 site finance leaders across both the United States (5) and Mexico (2)
  • Ensures business forecasts are deliverable, and once committed and communicated, ensures they are delivered (in support of Group delivering on its external commitments)
  • Delivers insightful analysis, support business decisions, understands key contracts and their KPIs and provides analysis and explanations for any variances and unforeseen trading patterns
  • Oversees the preparation of the consolidated reports, strategic plans and annual budgets for each site, and critically review such plans, supporting the implementation of Group strategy and challenging management to always reach for the best performance
  • Ensures that all Group policies and procedures are implemented properly and ensures best practice is followed across all Finance teams and establishes a strong controls environment
  • Supports and critiques new projects and ensure that ongoing business activity is delivering the requisite cash and profit while ensuring continuing bottom line focus
  • Leads the preparation of the annual budget process

Qualifications, Skills and Attributes

Core Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, MBA preferred
  • Certified Financial Management certificate
  • Ideally experience in both Finance and Financial Accounting, with a minimum of 7 years leading subordinate Financial Managers/Directors in multiple sites with international experience.
  • Strong experience in accounting and controls, specifically the ability to ensure the balance sheet is correct and the right business controls are place.
  • Strong commercial awareness
  • Experience managing diverse and remote teams
  • High-energy, creative and resourceful self-starter who demonstrates leadership skills and instincts
  • Experience as a financial partnering in a complex manufacturing environment, with strong skills in influencing decision making
  • Team player, receptive to ideas. Shares information and keeps key stakeholders informed
  • Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills
  • Experience of working on a global basis
  • Clear understanding and thorough detailed knowledge of Government contracting and cost accounting requirements. 
  • Confident and dynamic communicator
  • Excellent written and spoken English
  • Motivated by results and strives to exceed expectations
  • Demonstrate strong leadership, analytical, influencing and decision-making skills
  • Travel is expected (25%), including international travel

 

Additional Required Skills and Experience

  • Previously worked in an electronics manufacturing business
  • Public company experience through working in a subsidiary and / or group role
