Role Overview and Responsibilities

Job Summary

 

The Continuous Improvement Engineer position will act as an internal consultant focused on improving manufacturing processes and efficiencies.  This position will play a key role in the identification, improvement, and on-going sustainability of best in class manufacturing practices and technologies.

 

Essential Functions

  • Possess a passion for problem solving, finding unique solutions to problems while driving change in the plant. Be an effective communicator who is comfortable working with all levels within the organization.
  • Assist in the successful deployment of Training Within Industry (TWI) by using cross-functional teams.
  • Implement a framework and technology for standardized digital work instructions.
  • Responsible for the acquisition, integration, and ongoing support needs of production automation equipment.
  • Be a leader of change: identify, develop and implement Continuous Improvements, and develop systems to ensure the improvements are sustained.
  • Participate in the design of innovative approaches and solutions utilizing broad knowledge, best practices and benchmarking.
  • Drive the optimization of manufacturing processes according to standardized framework and procedures.
  • Train and lead cross-functional continuous improvement teams; focusing on measurable quality, service, and cost improvements. Motivate employees in the understanding and adoption of new principles and techniques.
  • Effectively apply the necessary tools such as Cl/LEAN, Value Stream Mapping, 6Sigma, Kaizen, Root Cause, 5 WHY, 5S, Gap analysis, etc., to deliver improvement results.
  • Other duties as required and assigned.

Qualifications, Skills and Attributes

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Management, Systems, or similar field required.
  • Two to three years of relevant work experience required.
  • Strong LEAN manufacturing and TWI experience, to include implementing Lean and/or Six-Sigma methodologies, with a proven track record of results.
  • Must have a solid understanding of manufacturing and supply chain process, and knowledge of Key Performance Indicators that drive manufacturing results.
  • Experience working within an ISO or AS9100 quality management system is a plus.
  • Possess analytical ability to break down complex problems into manageable pieces using creative thinking, data collection and analysis, as well as initiative to take action on fact-based conclusions.
  • Adept at building trusting relationships while motivating/influencing others to adopt new best practices.
  • Proven verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate with a wide audience of internal and external customers.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook) is required.
  • US Citizen or Permanent Resident status is required.
  • This position requires use of information which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR. ITAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.
