Role Overview and Responsibilities

Introduction

We require a Production Manager to join our busy Manufacturing team, based at our site in Abercynon, South Wales.

 

The role of the Production Manager will be to manage and maintain the safe, effective and efficient operation of the Assembly area in terms of employees, machinery and resources to achieve budget requirements and operational KPI's.

 

Requirements of the Role

  • Manage the safe and effective use of people and equipment to achieve the daily, weekly and monthly production plan.
  • Work in conjunction with planning to produce capacity plans.
  • Ensure that the manufacturing processes are operated by appropriately trained people in line with the manufacturing work instructions. This is delgated through the supervisory structure.
  • As part of the operational team, participate in the setting of operational KPI's and cascade to the manufacturing team.
  • Lead the manufacturing team in the acheievement of the operational KPI's and budgeted requirements. 
  • Lead and champion continuous improvement/ lean activities in line with the BE LEAN principles.
  • Participate in the project management process for NPI and provide resources as required. 
  • Ensure all HR policies and procedures are adhered to by the team.
  • Manager holds responsibility for ensuring product quality, and shall have the authority to stop production to correct quality problems. 
  • Interact with customers at all levels as required. 

Health, Safety and Environment 

  • Ensure all processes have been risk assessed and the appropriate work instructions for the safe operation are specified. 
  • Ensure that operators are trained to the specified work instruction.
  • Ensure that the H&S reporting system is being followed. 
  • Ensure that all near misses and accidents are recorded and analysed for root cause and corrective actions are implemented to prevent reoccurance. 
  • Ensure manufacturing operation is compliant with the relevant legislation and TT roadmaps. 
  • Participate in the HS&E committee meetings and departmental inspections.

Qualifications, Skills, Personal Qualities (CORE)

  • Proven track record in effective operational team management.
  • An understanding of target and budget setting and the development of plans to achieve.
  • A clear understanding of how a manufacturing process should be configured to ensure stable and effective outputs. 
  • Demonstrated ability to implement lean improvements in a structured way to continually improve the manufacturing performance.
  • Ability to work effectively within a fast paced, dynamic environment.
  • Ability to identify and implement new technologies to add value to the existing processes. 
  • Manage and control the costs in line with budgets.
  • Degree/HND or equivalent experience in a relevant discipline. 

Qualifications, Skills, Personal Qualities (DESIRABLE)

  • Previous experience in a connector or harness manufacturing
  • Knowledge of our customers & their industry

Our Recruitment Process

Initially we will reach out to you for an informal conversation about the role. This will allow you the opportunity to ask questions and find out more about TT, our site and our team. It will also give us the chance to learn more about you and your experience to date. At this point both parties have the opportunity to decide if they would like to continue with the process.

 

Formal Interviews will be held on site and include a tour of the facility.

 

Due to the specific projects TT Electronics Abercynon Supports we are unable to sponsor work visas for this role. Candidates will be required to achieve Baseline Personnel Security Standard Clearance and hold UK or US citizenship.

 

Successful candidates will be required to undertake pre and during employment drug and alcohol testing.
