Role Overview and Responsibilities

Introduction

We require a Buyer to join our busy Purchasing Team, based at our site in Abercynon, South Wales. The successful candidate will be responsible for the management and development portfolio of suppliers from whom we buy goods and services that are critical to our operations.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for maintaining assigned supplier relations by selecting suppliers negotiating prices for material and/or services required, so ensuring procurement of nominated materials and services to agreed programmes by the most economic, timely and efficient means.
  • Analyse, negotiate and report supplier prices changes
  • Conduct periodic commodity surveys to obtain price comparisions; evaluate market trends to develop new services and create cost savings. 
  • Select new and alternative sources of supply and in collaboration with technical staff.
  • Select new and alternative materials and services, providing technical and or commercial advantage to the company.
  • Ensure all purchasing requisitions and programmes are correct and reflect the current suppliers lead times, keeping management and user departments informed where changes threaten work programmes.
  • Identify potential problem areas and recommend changes
  • Minimise the company exposure with regards to M0Q's and price increases, obtaining the relevant authority levels.
  • Proactive liaison with other departments as necessary to forecast, plan to meet and to supply demand to relevant quality.
  • Ensure compliance with company codes of conduct and Health and Safety
  • Administration and reporting as required
  • Payment terms negotiation, optimisation and management.
  • International trading issues/imports/ legal awareness.
  • To identify and drive continuous improvements within the areas of control
  • Control and minimise excess and cost/stock

Qualifications, Skills and Attributes

Qualifications, Skills and Attributes

  • 3+ years experience of Purchasing within a manufacturing or similar environment
  • Ability to think strategically with an innovative approach to problem solving 
  • Excellent negotiation skills with proven track record of cost reduction through use of appropriate strategic purchasing tools.
  • Familiar with ERP,MRP systems and Purchasing Systems.
  • Supplier relationship management
  • Excellent communication both verbal and written
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines.

Our Recruitment Process 

Initally we will reach out to your for an informal conversation about the role. This will allow you the opportunity to ask questions and find out more about TT, our site and our team. It will also give us the chance to learn more about you and your experience to date. At this point both parties have the opportunity to decide if they would to continue with the process.

 

Formal interviews to be held on site and include a tour of the facility.

 

Due to specific projct that TT Electronics Abercynon supports, we are unable to sponsor work visas for this role. Candidates will be required to achieve Baseline Personal Security Standard Clearance and hold UK or US citizenship.

 

Successful candidates will be required to undertake pre and during employment drug and alcohol testing.
