Role Overview and Responsibilities

Introduction

The Project Manager is responsible for day- to - day management of their assigned projects and must be competant in managing the six aspects of a project, i.e scope, schedule, finance, risk, quality and resources.

Being able to manage the project effecively utilising the 8 phase gated process to ensure the predefined project objectives are delivered within budget and ontime. 

 

Requirements of the Role 

  • Meeting with the relevant members of the leadership team and customers to identify project requirements, delivery timelines and costs.
  • Developing detailed project plans, identifying key milestones in accordance with the gated process to guide customers, staff members and project teams. Ensuring timely communication of any revisions based on changing needs and requirements. 
  • Creating effective communications strategies and quality plans sufficient to the size and complexity of the project. 
  • Managing the project through the gated process from concept to manufacturing and leading the phase gate exit review meetings with the leadership team.
  • Working with the relevant department managers to secure the required resource commitment in line with the project deliverables.
  • Identifying and assigning project tasks based on the resource availability, skill sets, experience and strengths of the team members.
  • Monitoring project performance indicators whist identifying and recording risks, mitigating where possible and communicating impact potential. 
  • Chairing regular project team meetings, capturing key information/ activities and reporting an outcome. 
  • Compiling and submitting project status reports to customers, management and other stakeholders. 
  • Demonstrating excellent leadership, customer relations and communication skills to liase effectively with all project stakeholders.

Qualifications, Skills and Attributes

Competancy 

  •  Key understanding of project management philosophies and their relevant applications across varying project types.
  • Experienced in the use of gated processes and managing stage reviews
  • The ability to prioritise acitivies based on an understanding of the business needs. 
  • The ability to work in a structured and methodical way.
  • The ability to communicate clearly and effecitvely with all stakeholders.
  • The ability to coach team members at all levels to develop understanding and ownership of project requirements.
  • To promote team working, sharing of best practice and championing expertise across all departments. 

Core Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of working as a project manager within a fast- moving manufacturing environment.
  • HNC/Degree in relevant discipline or Project Managament Qualification. 
  • Computer literate including the analysis of data in spreadsheets and the generation of reports and presentations and the effective use of Project Management Software. 
  • Excellent communication skills for interactions at all levels of the business. 
  • Leadership skills, the ability to inspire and motivate the team towards achieving a common goal.

Desirable Requirements

  • Experience within the Rail or Defence Markets 
  • Experience within the connector or cable assembly industry
  • Previous experience in the use of Daptiv software.

Our Recruitment Process 

Initally we reach out to you for an informal conversation about the role. This will allow you the opportunity to ask questions and find out more about TT, our site and our team. It will also give us the chance to learn more about you and your experience to date. At this point both parties have the opportunity to decide if they would like to continue with the process.

 

Formal interviews will be held on site and include a tour of the facility. 

 

Due to specific projects TT Electronics Abercynon supports, we are unable to sponsor work visas for this role. Candidates will be required to achieve Baseline Personal Security Standard Clearance and hold UK or US citizenship. 

 

Successful candidates will be required to undertake pre and during drug and alcohol testing.
