Role Overview and Responsibilities

This position requires use of information which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR. ITAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.

 

Introduction

The successful candidate for this position will be an experienced leader within the program management team that manages, plans, directs, evaluates, and improves operations for a variety of power products development projects, with experience in aerospace projects a plus.  This role is responsible for major and complex assignments with long-term business implications, managing complex programs within program management of expertise, managing a program management and NPI teams, and contributing to the overall success of the business.  This position will spend time both managing direct reports and directly working within program management/process development.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing program management and NPI team.  Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and quality of program execution.
  • Drive the adoption of new processes and methodology to meet aerospace and defense quality needs; e.g. APQP, PPAP, etc.
  • Plan, execute, and oversee engineering programs.  Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget.
  • Design, implement, and refine product development, testing, and manufacturing processes.  Manage staff and assign tasks to program management and NPI group.
  • Lead teams in the development of new products, solutions, and processes.
  • Mange resources effectively to ensure the successful completion of projects.  Monitor expenses and ensure cost-effective operations.
  • Strive to improve efficiency and sustainability of processes and product designs, and to reduce waste.
  • Create and oversee project budgets and engage in cost management strategies.
  • Communicate technical information to non-technical stakeholders, including investors and potential customers.
  • Maintain high level of expertise in field or sector.
  • Assure that processes meet quality and safety compliance guidelines.
  • Work collaboratively with other departments, including operations, sales and marketing, to ensure alignment and support for new program activities.
  • Forge and maintain relationships with suppliers and customers.
  • Establish and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the success of engineering initiatives.  Report on progress and make data-driven decisions.
  • Responsibilities may evolve based upon departmental needs.

Qualifications, Skills and Attributes

Core Requirements

  • A Bachelors in any core Engineering discipline, such as Electrical, Mechanical, or Systems Engineering.
  • Experience managing Project Engineers and Program Managers in the aerospace and/or defense sector (as direct reports).
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office required.

Desireable Skills and Experience

  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills; effective communicator at all organizational levels.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize and manage multiple, simultaneous projects and priorities in aerospace product development programs.
  • Highly organized, superb attention to detail, capable of multi-tasking and following through on tasks to completion.
  • Possess strong communication skills (both written and verbal), able to interact with all stakeholders and act as a professional representative of the corporation.
