Role Overview and Responsibilities

Introduction

To deliver and maintain technical and compliance training across TT Electronics Barnstaple and support regional sites. The Manufacturing Trainer will deliver training initiatives that support our Health and Safety culture, promote a Zero Defects culture, reduce the cost of poor quality (COPQ), and ensure robust training compliance for aerospace and military manufacturing standards.  Please note that this role is based in Barnstaple North Devon with 20% travel to other UK sites.  Barnstaple operates a 4 day working week - Monday to Thursday 07h15 to 17h30

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Support a culture of continuous improvement of health and safety performance, including adherence to site Health, Safety and Environment Policies, and focus on zero harm through identifying and managing all site and people hazards.
  • Demonstrate safe working processes and behaviours at all times.
  • Deliver in-house manufacturing training (Barnstaple and support across the region) for IPC-610, IPC-620, J-STD-001, ESD and Safety standards.
  • Develop and maintain required manufacturing training content, including documentation, videos, and visual standards
  • Support the maintenance and management of internal training certification programs aligned to AS9100 and customer quality requirements, across all department at Barnstaple.
  • Support structured onboarding assessment and training for new manufacturing employees and apprentices, in collaboration with HR and Line Managers.
  • Collaborate with QA and CI teams to reduce COPQ through targeted upskilling
  • Engage with operators and production teams to embed a culture of Zero Defects
  • Support functional leaders to ensure training records are accurate and audit-ready
  • Support recruitment by participating in interview processes and technical assessments
  • Provide training regionally across UK sites as required
  • Supporting the apprentice program through direct apprentice support in collaboration with HR and Line managers
  • You may be required from time to time to undertake such other duties as the company may reasonably require.

Qualifications, Skills and Attributes

Core Requirements

  • Background in technical training within a manufacturing or aerospace environment
  • Experience with delivering structured training programs and documentation
  • Effective planning, coordination, and stakeholder engagement
  • Comfortable with digital training development (PowerPoint, Excel, video tools)
  • Ability to influence others, communicate effectively and work cross-functionally
  • Willingness to travel to other TT sites in the UK

Desireable Skills and Experience

  • Desirable - Master IPC trainer (MIT) in IPC-610, IPC-620, J-STD-001, IPC-7711/7721
  • Essential - Certified IPC Trainer (CIT) in IPC-610, IPC-620, J-STD-001, IPC-7711/7721
  • Familiarity with AS9100 and Aerospace compliance requirements
  • ESD and Health & Safety trained
  • Certified Manual Handling Trainer
  • Safeguarding trained
  • IOSH Working Safely or equivalent
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong planning, coordination, and training development capabilities
  • Strong interpersonal skills, and high Emotional intelligence
  • Ability to manage competing priorities
