Role Overview and Responsibilities

About the Role

The Business Development Director will lead growth initiatives for TT Electronics’ Interconnect business across the European region, with a primary focus on the Abercynon and Fairford sites. This senior leadership role is responsible for shaping and delivering the go-to-market strategy for interconnect solutions, including cable harnesses, connectors, and integrated systems.

 

The primary focus will be on securing brand-new customers, platforms, and programmes within the Aerospace & Defence (A&D) sector, as well as adjacent high-end industrial and transportation markets. Unlike momentum business managed by internal sales and programme teams, this role is dedicated to strategic customer acquisition and programme wins that expand TT’s market footprint and long-term growth trajectory.

 

The Role Holder would ideally be based in close proximity to both the Abercynon and Fairford sites along the M4 corridor. There will be a regular travel requirment to both of these sites, other TT UK sites and our regional customers.

Qualifications, Skills and Attributes

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute the European go-to-market strategy for Interconnect, working closely with the Abercynon and Fairford site leadership teams.
  • Identify and secure new customers, platforms, and programmes, positioning TT as a partner of choice for interconnect solutions.
  • Build senior-level relationships with OEMs, Tier 1 suppliers, and strategic partners across A&D and adjacent markets.
  • Lead and manage complex commercial negotiations with a focus on profitable growth and long-term strategic alignment.
  • Represent TT at industry forums, trade shows, and key customer engagements to raise market visibility and strengthen brand recognition.
  • Collaborate with Marketing, Engineering, and Operations to align customer needs with TT’s technical and production capabilities.
  • Maintain a robust pipeline of opportunities, driving accountability and reporting progress to the VP Sales and senior leadership team.
  • Develop a broad understanding of TT Electronics’ wider portfolio of capabilities, enabling solution-led selling and fostering a more coordinated approach to customer engagement that maximises group-wide value.
  • Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and customer requirements to continuously refine growth strategies.

Our Recruitment Process

Our recruitment process begins with an informal 30-minute call, giving you the chance to learn more about the role, our organisation, and ask any questions you may have. Successful candidates will then be invited to one of our UK sites or our head office for a structured visit, including a tour and a competency-based interview.

 

Employment in this role is conditional upon the successful completion of the Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) screening process and passing a drug and alcohol test. Due to the nature of our programmes, we are unable to provide visa sponsorship for this position. Applicants must therefore have and maintain the unrestricted right to work in the UK for the duration of their employment. Certain contracts and security clearances may impose restrictions on nationality; as such, UK or US citizenship is considered advantageous and may be required for specific projects.
