Role Overview and Responsibilities

This position requires use of information which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR. Job Summary

 

The primary responsibility of the NPI Engineer is to manage the introduction of new product launces from our design engineering team into our manufacturing facility.  Using proven methodologies, processes, and practices, it will be the responsibility of this individual to work very closely with Supply Chain, Quality, Design Engineering, Business Development teams and customer, to implement effective, on-time product launches.
 
The NPI Engineer collaborates with multiple cross-functional teams throughout the organization to ensure that all stated NPI goals and  objectives are achieved.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead selected NPI efforts to ensure a smooth transition from design to production, meeting all stated requirements and deliverables.
  • Track and report NPI metrics aligned to site Goals and Objectives.
  • Ensure manufacturing processes are lean, reliable, and cost-effective, supporting CI and product flow optimization.
  • Review new design requirements during development; provide and verify closure of feedback to Engineering.
  • Ensure design and manufacturability requirements are met through each NPI phase.
  • Deliver all phase milestones on schedule, incorporating manufacturing operational needs.
  • Provide input on assembly/test methods and capacity/equipment requirements to enable scalable production.
  • Identify and implement process improvements and cost-reduction initiatives.
  • Initiate procurement through material requisitions and specify processes/work instructions.
  • Collaborate closely with Manufacturing Engineering, Production, and Quality on technical issues, customer concerns, and continuous improvement.
  • Other duties as required and/or assigned.

Qualifications, Skills and Attributes

  • Strong technical knowledge of electronic and electro-mechanical manufacturing processes and NPI principles.
  • Leads cross-functional teams, driving accountability, collaboration, and on-time execution.
  • Applies problem-solving and quality tools (APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, SPC) to strengthen product and process design.
  • Promotes lean manufacturing and continuous improvement to enhance efficiency and product flow.
  • Communicates effectively across all organizational levels, translating technical detail into actionable insight.
  • Manages multiple priorities with accuracy, organization, and attention to detail in a dynamic environment.
  • Demonstrates leadership and interpersonal skills that foster teamwork and operational excellence.
  • Ability to perform the essential functions of the role in office, lab, and production environments, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a core Engineering discipline; BSEE or BSME preferred.
  • 3-5 years of experience in an NPI role within a manufacturing environment, ideally with electronic or electro-mechanical products in the aerospace or defense industry.
  • Demonstrated anility to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced setting.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills; effective communicator at all levels of the organization.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to collaborate effectively and represent the company professionally.
  • Proven ability to drive change and improvement in dynamic operational environment.
  • Working knowledge and application of quality tools including APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, and SPC.
