Role Overview and Responsibilities

Summary:  The Continuous Improvement Specialist plays a key role in fostering operational excellence by partnering with teams across the organization to identify, analyze, and implement process improvements. This position is centered on creating a culture of collaboration and respect while enhancing efficiency, reducing waste, and improving quality through inclusive problem-solving and proven methodologies such as Lean and Six Sigma. The role involves working closely with individuals at all levels, listening to diverse perspectives, and empowering team members to contribute ideas that drive meaningful and sustainable change.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze processes using data-driven methods to uncover root causes and implement sustainable improvements.
  • Facilitate collaborative workshops, Kaizen events, and brainstorming sessions to engage employees at all levels.
  • Collaborate with leadership to align improvement projects with organizational goals and cost savings efforts.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure adoption and sustainment of changes.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for improvement and co-create solutions that respect diverse perspectives.
  • Support a culture of continuous learning by coaching team members on Lean, Six Sigma, and other improvement tools.
  • Communicate progress and outcomes clearly through reports, dashboards, and team updates.
  • Champion equity and inclusion in improvement initiatives, ensuring all voices are heard and valued.

Qualifications, Skills and Attributes

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Operations, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 2+ years of experience in process improvement, operations, or related roles.
  • Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies (Green Belt preferred).
  • Experience facilitating team-based improvement initiatives or workshops.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a focus on collaboration and inclusion.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and visualization tools (e.g., Excel, Power BI, Tableau).
  • Project management experience or certification (PMP or similar) is a plus.
  • This position requires use of information which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
