Role Overview and Responsibilities

Introduction

The Supply Chain Assistant will provide operational support across all supply chain activities to ensure smooth and efficient processes. This role involves coordinating demand planning, scheduling, purchasing, supplier management, inventory control, and general functional support to meet business objectives.

 

Key Responsibilities

Help create and maintain production and delivery schedules

Monitor adherence to schedules and update stakeholders on changes or delays.

Assist in forecasting production demand using orderbook data and working with the Demand Planning team and Customer Account Lead.

Support preparation of demand plans to align with production and inventory requirements.

Raise purchase orders for raw materials, components, and services.

Track order confirmations and delivery timelines to ensure timely supply

Maintain accurate supplier records and contact details.

Liaise with suppliers to resolve delivery issues, quality concerns, and lead-time queries

Participate in regular stock counts and reconcile discrepancies

Monitor inventory levels and highlight shortages or excess stock.

Support Material Requirements Planning (MRP) runs and review outputs

Ensure data accuracy in ERP/MRP systems for materials and lead times

Prepare reports on supply chain KPIs (e.g., stock levels, supplier performance)

Assist with administrative tasks, record keeping, and document control

Cover booking in and dispatch functions during periods of absence.

 

Qualifications, Skills and Attributes

Desirable Skills and Experience

Excellent attention to detail.
Strong comprehension and lateral thinking skills.
Open, transparent, and able to respond positively to issues and actively seek solutions as necessary.
Good organisational and planning skills
Ability to work to strict deadlines
A completer finisher.
Computer literate and basic use of MS software particularly Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
Excellent telephone manner.
Adaptable and flexible.
Good communication skills both written and oral.
Team orientated.
Excellent time management / prioritisation skills.
Strong written English language skills.
Willingness to learn and develop new skills through training and acquisition of knowledge
Minimum of 4 GCSEs at Grade 4 or above, in appropriate subjects, to include Mathematics and English
