Role Overview and Responsibilities

Introduction

We require a Key Account Manager to join our team based in Abercynon, South Wales. They Key Account Manager is responsible for the strategic development, retention and long=term growth of a defined portfolio of key customer accounts. The role focuses on building trusted senior-level relationships, developing and executing structured account plans, and aligning customer roadmaps with the organisations technical and operational capabilities to deliver sustainable revenue and margin growth. 

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Own and lead the overall commercial relationship for a defined portfolio of key customer accounts (Appendix A)
  • Develop and execute formal, multi-year strategic account plans aligned to business growth objectives.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with senior decison makers and influencers within customer organisations.
  • Identifym, qualify and develop long-term growth opportunities, including new programme, platforms and applications.
  • Align customer technology, product and capacity roadmaps with internal engineering, operations and supply chain capabilities. 
  • Lead regular customer business reviews, perfroamcne reviews and strategic planning sessions.
  • Act as the internal customer advocate, coordinating cross functional teams to deliver cstomer commitments and strategic objectives.
  • Manage commercial activities for key accounts including pricing strategy, contract support, quotations and negotiations. 
  • Drive account penetration across multiple programmes, sites and product lines where applicable. 
  • Monitor overall account performance, including revenue, margin, delivery performance and service levels. 
  • Proactively manage risks, issues and escalations to protect long term relationships and account profitability
  • Capture and communicate customer and market intelligence to support product, technology and commercial strategy.

Visit Reporting and Communication

Following each customer visit, the Key Account Manager will complete a structured visit report capturing key discussions, customer priorities and objectives, programme and roadmap updates, future opportunities, technical and commercial requirements, competitive and market intelligence, risks and issues, agreed actions and owners, and the impact on account plans and forecasts. Reports will be issued promptly to relevant internal stakeholders to ensure alignment and effective follow-up.

  • Customer satisfaction and retention. 

 

Qualifications, Skills and Attributes

Skills and Experience

  • Proven experience in a Key Account Manager or senior sales role within a manufacturing,engineering or technically complex envionment. 
  • Demonstrated success in developing and delivering strategic account plans. 
  • Strong commercial, contractual and negotiation capability
  • Experience managing complex, multi-stakeholder customer organisations. 
  • Ability to work cross-functionally to deliver technically lef and operationally complex solutions. 
  • Strong analytical and planning skills with the ability to translate customer strategy into actionable growth plans
